Why use a battlemap in solo play?

When you play alone, you are also the referee, and it is easy to lose track of where everyone stands once a fight gets busy. A simple grid answers the questions that matter: can the archer see the hero, who is next to the door, how many steps to the bridge? You do not need miniatures or a drawn map: a few shapes on a grid are enough to keep the scene honest.

How to use it

  1. Set the scene. Pick a grid size that fits the room, then choose Walls and tap the squares that block movement or sight. A dungeon room or encounter roll can tell you what the space looks like.
  2. Place the sides. Choose Add hero and tap a square, then add enemies, allies and objects such as a pillar, a chest or a door. Each kind has its own shape, so you can tell them apart without colour.
  3. Play the round. Select a token and tap an empty square, or use the arrow buttons to move one square at a time. The panel shows how far each other token is. Press Next round when everyone has acted.
  4. Let the oracle decide what the enemies do. Ask the yes/no oracle questions such as "Does the goblin charge?" and roll attacks with the dice roller, using whatever rules your game uses.
  5. Keep the story. Add the positions to your Campaign Notebook journal when the fight ends, or save a backup to continue later.

Printing and pencil play

Print this map gives a clean black-and-white grid with the tokens on it. Print a blank grid gives an empty grid of the size you chose, ready for a pencil or a dry-erase sleeve, so you can keep playing away from the screen. Choose Save as PDF in the print window to keep a copy.

The battlemap is system-neutral. It counts squares the simple way, with a diagonal step as one, and leaves movement, range and attack rules to your game. Nothing is uploaded and it never sends you a notification.
