Giant rats are cunning pack scavengers that test, retreat and return. Where there is one there are a dozen, and where there are a dozen something is feeding them.

Where it lives

Sewers, granaries, flooded cellars, battlefields and the edges of any place where food is stored or left to rot.

Using it in solo play

Use rats as a clock: every scene spent in their tunnels, roll to see whether more arrive. Ask the oracle what is feeding them; the answer is usually your next adventure.

Use whatever numbers your game gives a creature like this; the roller supplies the story. Pair it with the yes/no oracle to decide how it reacts, and save anything worth remembering to your notebook.
